Alipurduar Nilkanta Mukherjee Welfare Society was officially announced on 28th April, 2018. The Society has been started in memory of Late Shri Nilkanta Mukherjee who is well known in the region for his philanthropy and benevolence.The vision of the society is to carry on his legacy and try and be of help to as many people as possible in and around Alipurduar district.The society wants to focus its activities in areas related to education, health care, care for senior citizens, distribution of clothes to the destitute and organising awareness programmes.Besides these activities, Nilkanta Mukherjee Memorial Lecture is organised every year by eminent scholars.
The mission of the society is to reach out to the people and be of help and service to them. The aim is to:
1.Extend all assistance and help towards meritorious needy students especially in the tribal region.
2.Extend helping hand to people in need for medical assistance. Organize awareness programmes related to health issues.
3.Conduct regular eye check up camps at forest villages.
4.Organise research activities and publish journals, magazines and periodicals, etc. for local area study and historical purposes.
